Many months ago I wrote an essay titled, ‘A Man’s Masculine Edge’.
It’s been a fairly popular post thus far.
Have not read it? Read it here.
(A Masculine Edge = Dominant Mindset)
Now, it’s time for round two - some examples.
More than I could ever explain or describe, I offer up to you all a few movie examples that illustrate the Masculine Edge concept perfectly (as it pertains to women).
“Vicky Christina Barcelona” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih6Baoop5G4 This is the PERFECT example of a man’s masculine edge when it comes to women. Notice Juan Antonio’s easy manner, direct eye contact, and confident speech and demeanor. It’s also a dead on illustration of Alan Roger Currie’s, ‘Mode One Approach’.
“Secretary” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5Yu-IGx0-4 As most of you know, I have been into D/s (BDSM) for a long time now and this scene is right up my alley. James Spader’s character, when in Dominant mode, is focused and firm. Listen to his voice register. He lowers his voice - it gets deep and quietly commanding.
Ernest Hemingway’s “Garden of Eden” - https://youtu.be/W0FphspKMPg - Watch the main character, played by actor Jack Huston. Watch his eyes and the ease at which he dominates the initial interaction by taking her cigarette and lighting it in his own mouth rather than lighting it for her. Look at her body language and how she reacts to him by scanning him up and down with her eyes. He remains silent - once again, direct eye contact and relaxed smile, almost a playful smirk.
Hank Moody, in the series “Californication” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSO30mNbg4o
An office scene between Hank and Abby (his lawyer). Again, watch the eye contact and the ease and delight with his banter with her. It’s light, mischievous and charged with sexual tension. Watch Abby’s face and how she responds to him. She’s enjoying the flirtation and her pretend exasperation with Hank is evident.
You can watch more examples from any B&W movies featuring Cary Grant, James Cagney, Gary Cooper, and Humphrey Bogart (just to name a few). Oh, Sean Connery, too.
Now, for all you sperging, lead-paint-eaters out there that cannot help it, allow me to head you off at the pass - NO, you do not need to mimic the men in these scenes. NO, you do not need to wear a red shirt, fly a plane, and be a painter in order to cultivate your Masculine Edge.
I get it. As Men we have a propensity for binary, literate thinking. Forget that. Cultivating your Masculine Edge is more Art than Science.
This comes with practice and experience. You’ll need to forget what you THINK you know. For if you’re reading this and getting offended, chances are, you’re not with a woman who genuinely desires you and I’ll postulate further that you’re not getting laid at all.
And for you naysayers who have no intention of putting in the work and effort, you lazy bastids that think that it’s not worth the effort and energy? Go back to porn and masturbation. If that’s what you want, keep on with your bad self.
A Masculine Geek designs a life that HE wants and cultivates his own Masculine Edge.
Next essay, part three, I’ll give you some examples from my own life,
Until then, keep the fires burning, and get off the internet and get out and about. And no, I don’t give a shit about this global ‘pandemic’ con job. Wake the fuck up. Keep moving forward, you slugs.
